One of the top breeding stallions from National Stud at Kladruby nad Labem is posing in the front of the statue of one of the founders of Kladruber breed.

The National Stud in Kladruby nad Labem is one of the oldest stud farms in the world while being home to the oldest Czech indigenous breed of horses - the Kladruber, and about 2 years ago, the Landscape for Breeding and Training of Ceremonial Carriage Horses at Kladruby nad Labem was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

I feel very privileged for this great opportunity to photograph horses from this stud, to get to know the horses there and hear the history of this rare and old breed.

Long maned and feathered horses galloping in low light are one of my favorites to photograph!

Although Gypsy horses because of their very gentle nature are not the most energetic dancers, but their abundant hair adds incredible dynamics and magic to each photograph!

🇬🇧GALAHAD There is no need to explain how d 🇬🇧GALAHAD

There is no need to explain how difficult times have come. Despite of that, let’s remember that there are craters which do not have a voice to tell about their poor fate. Creatures which we once domesticated, taken into our homes and bred to be suitable for our lives.
And then we keep abandoning them while they are not needed any more, they generate to big expenses or simply we can’t menage take care of them.

Fortunately, there are many foundations and organizations run by many amazing people, that set themselves the goal of helping animals when their previous owners could no longer take care of them for various reasons.

One of them is „Le Refuge de Galahad” - a non profit organization with the mission to promote good welfare practices in the equine industry and provide a home to animals that would otherwise face a more tragic fate.
Owners that can no longer provide adequate care for their horses sometimes have very limited options. Too often horses end up at the auction and/or at the slaughterhouse. With their vast network of foster families and sanctuaries, they are able to rehome displaced animals so they can live a long and happy life.

The goals of the foundation touched my heart deeply. It made me want to help and bring to Galahad a part of my passion to horses. I undertook a charitable project of taking photos for 2021 calendar. But I didn't just want to take any photos of the horses. I wanted to show all these horses in their aweken glory. Because every horse - old, sick, disabled, has what defines every single horse - beauty, elegance, majesty and sensitivity.

I experienced during these sessions that some horses were very shy and they had a lack of self-confidence. But as soon as their new owner took a lead rope, they started to feel much more comfortable. Because loving owners were willing to give time, opportunities and reasons to start trust in people again.

Many of these horses have been given a second chance, and some of them save people themselves - like those who work with war veterans, relieving them of the need to be cared for. Just like we heal horses, horses can heal our souls too.
